Thanksgiving dinner at the Fulbright offices
The Thursday before Thanksgiving, the Danish-American Fulbright Commission hosted a great Thanksgiving get-together. We started by talking about our research and observations about living in Denmark. They provided a great turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, and apple pie. The apple pie was more of an apple cake, but still good. Seeing as we didn't have pie, I thought it would be good idea to add it to my baking repertoire (which currently consists of brownies, and uh, brownies).
My first apple pie - the test pie (I think all engineers need test pies). Crust was good, but filling needed work as it was too liquid-y and drowned the bottom crust. It wasn't superb, but the folks at my department certainly enjoyed it :)
Thanksgiving part two- one of the Fulbrighters very kindly hosted a Thanksgiving meal for those of us in the Copenhagen area. It was all delicious, and impressively traditional.

Great plate - the turkey was all the more impressive because a vegetarian made it!
Whipped cauliflower and lots of veggies
Second pie - filling and bottom crust was much better. I think the second Thanksgiving crowd enjoyed it.
Pie and ice cream, apple "cake" which was really a crust soaked in liquor (yum!), lemon cake, pumpkin pie loaf
Bonus photo from my Aunt Yuka! We lit the candles while singing with the family on the iPad. Always there in spirit (ie with technology).
And in the spirit of Thanksgivukkah, we lit our homemade hanukkiah (don't tell we used Christmas candles).

Unrelated to Thanksgiving - one of the guys in my department is leaving to go to a company and make us Brussels-style Belgium waffles. Not sure exactly what that means, but it was delicious. One of the many perks of having many international students and researchers.
Ice cream in the shape of snowflakes?!?!
