The Chabad in Denmark hosts 'restaurant nights' every so often because there are no kosher restaurants in DK. Last night's theme was Israeli cuisine, and a talented Israeli chef came in to make all the food. I helped out a bit and was extremely happy to stuff my face with delicious salads, falafel, and meats. Israeli food is possible in Denmark!

PotD 23-02-14 Sun!
Yesterday was likely the most beautiful day of winter. It was sunny and a nice 5 degC so I decided to run somewhere new- along the ramparts in Christianshavn. In the map below they are the bits of land that stick out into the water along the east side of the island. It was one of the most interesting runs I have been on in the city, especially because of the Freetown area. There were many great photos, but I restrained myself because 1) you are not really supposed to take photos and 2) I should be running. Anyway, enjoy the few below.

Great day for a run - finally sunny and a cool 7 degC. The parks around us in Copenhagen will never get old.

Winter Vacation Day 5 - Paris
New Years Eve Day is a crazy time to be in Paris (mostly because everyone else is there too)
Quick breakfast (croissants and espresso of course)
Walking to Musee d'Orsay
Little bit of rain, great red umbrella
Looong lines at the museum too. With tickets, we waited 2 hours.
Still happy after a long wait in some light rain
The museum used to be a train station, pretty neat from above
Behind the clock
Sacre Coeur on the horizon
Ferris wheel
Behind the clock is a place to rest on a strange strange chair
No photos ;-)
Statues outside the museum
Heading to the open-air market to get food for breakfast (cheese and bread of course)
Cheese shop
Seafood
Cocktail hour before dinner
Our New Year's Eve dinner
Wonderful dinner at Vin & Maree
Starter
Delicious wine and pretty mama
Cheers
Preparing for the venture out to the Eiffel Tower (putting champagne into a bottle)
Police prepared for the crowds - took us about 10 minutes to just exit the metro because of the all the people at the Champs Elysees. It was incredibly crowded, thousands upon thousands
We started at the Champs Elysees, but it was a bit too crazy so after a few photos we started towards the Eiffel Tower
Arc de Triomphe in the background
Walking with many others toward the Eiffel Tower
Our final spot, close enough to see the Eiffel Tower without too many thousands surrounding us
NYE!
The Eiffel Tower light up for NYE
Love
The Tower sparkling as we walk home

The view outside to Avenue du Maine

Did I mention there are locks?
Locks even on the top of the light-pole

The line to get tickets to the Louvre, sorry, half of the line...
Here is the other half of the line. Likely 3 hours long
Luckily we bought tickets ahead of time (only a 1/2 hour wait)
Inside the Louvre, looking out from the pyramid
Weird statue in the pyramid
With so many people, it's impressive we got a clean shot
Ah, that's better
We have the same hair, no?
I think this is the original for a replica in a fountain in Kongens Have (the park near us in Copenhagen)
Famous philosophers - the beard makes the man
Something for Jon to aspire to..
High-five!
We're assuming the H is for Hytowitz
Amazing ceiling in the Galerie d'Apollon
It was an amazing room, everything was ornate, and included a small collection of crowns
Leading the tour...
Ah, finally, the infamous Mona Lisa
Ahhhhhh
Oh the traffic on Dec. 30 outside the Louvre
Beautiful at night
I think the weird statue is also prettier at night
The point
Really strange to walk out of a museum and into a mall, and see a giant Apple logo/store
Louvre
Arc outside the Louvre
La Seine
Back on the Pont des Arts
We found a great little cafe for dinner. I love Parisian cafes, they are unlike any other cafes. Have a beer, wine, a coffee or anything else. Such a great environment
Walking back through the lit-up streets
