Copenhagen Sakura Festival

This weekend was the Copenhagen Sakura Festival in Langelinie Park (near the Little Mermaid). The sakura have been blooming for a few weeks and the park is gorgeous. The festival had many great performances - karate, dance, taiko drumming, and many local restaurants selling food. We had a nice bento box, sesame balls, and some Kirin beer.

The columns were covered in beautiful posters for the festival. Each was unique and really nicely done. It was a neat surprise.

Tea ceremony

Huge crowns came out for the festival

Taiko drummers (all Danish kids between 12-17)

Freshly made taiyaki (cake filled with red bean paste in the shape of a fish)

After a long line, we indulge. Yum.

Fun group dancing at the end (the leaders are in the center wearing kimono)

Finally, a photo from today after eating lunch outside along the canal. Another beautiful, sunny, warm day. I love this city.
