Our first stop: Amager Strand, the beaches in the north eastern part of the island. It was raining a bit when we got there, so Jon quickly snapped a photo of the wind turbines and we rode on, hoping for better weather.
View facing back towards Amager (notice the huge amount of bike parking, I'm guessing it gets crowded in warm weather)
Dunes and dramatic sky
Nice bike/walking path along the beach
The next part of our ride took us around the airport. Hi SAS
Planes landing overhead
Bike selfie + Øresund bridge in the background
Beginning to see our second stop, Dragør
Dragør is a very cozy historic fishing village with many well-preserved homes and buildings. The buildings are all a shade of Copenhagen yellow and the streets are all cobbled. It was from the harbor that many of the 7,200 Jews escaped in fishing boats to Sweden during WWII.
Enjoying the nice weather at the harbor
Thatched roofs!
Walking through the small streets
Homes along the coastline
Great photo of the sky reflects the water and vice versa. Clouds over the left half = gray colored water, blue skies on the right = blue colored water
Small boy fishing in the harbor
Tons of swans in the area
Øresund bridge again
Google map fail - this is not exactly a good bike path (although a beautiful spot along the coast)
Roads in the middle of the island, mostly farmland, horses, and us. We biked through miles of park on the west side of the island, beautiful paths without traffic where we barely ran into other people
Strange new apartments close to Copenhagen - we surmised that this is where Danish architects go to play
Viking ship across from the apartments?
More interesting apartments
Miles and miles of fields and marshland
Um... was the guy making the line drunk?
Obligatory photo of a wind turbine (and blue skies)
Another interesting building
I went down a hill to find a fence, Jon stays at the top waiting for me to realize my mistake
Jon passes by this every day on this way home, so we finally decided to go inside
It's the Dome of Visions, meant to show sustainability in building design
Looking out to the canal
Plants growing inside, the glass kept it really warm inside
